The word 'mandala' is a Sanskrit term that means “circle” or “discoid object”.
A mandala can be defined in two ways: externally as a schematic visual representation of the universe and internally as a guide for several psychophysical practices that take place in many Asian traditions, including meditation.
Mandalas are objects of devotion in Tantric Hindu and in Tantric Buddhism (Vajrayana Buddhism) and they are also used in Jainism.
They can be painted on paper, wood, stone, cloth or even on a wall.
They make beautiful decoration artworks in your home, on your walls, tables, or even floors (be sure to properly treat your floor if you are painting onto a floor)
For this stencil you have the option of either a:
- 'Quarter' (see the pic above) to make for a full mandala with an overall dimension of 780x780mm - each quarter piece measures 390x390mm. (You will move the mandala stencil around, keeping th central 'star' as your guiding point)
- Or a full mandala which measures 30cm in diameter.
